Instead looking for the steps to add tracking for Shopify in Eyk? Take a look at this page

Connect Shopify to Eyk

Eyk connects to Shopify through an API integration, allowing for the synchronisation of your orders, products, and customer data into your Eyk data warehouse. Follow the steps below to connect Shopify and start gaining in-depth insights from your webshop backend.

💡
Support is always one click away! When logged into Eyk, use the chat widget in the bottom right ↘️ of your screen and you’ll be connected to our on-call engineer

Step 1 - Create a custom application in Shopify

In this step we will create a custom application in your Shopify account, grant it access to your Shopify data, and copy the API Access Token for use in Eyk.

ℹ️
Want to know a bit more about custom applications in Shopify? This page in the Shopify docs is a good place to start

Take the following steps in your Shopify account to create a custom application:

  1. In the menu on the left hand side navigate to Settings >> App and sales channels >> Develop apps >> Create an app
  2. Enter a name for your custom application
  3. Select Configure Admin API scopes and grant access to the following 3 scopes:
    • read_orders
    • read_customers
    • read_products
    • read_inventory
  4. Click Install app to create the application
  5. In your custom application, go to API Credentials to copy the Admin API Access Token. You will need this API access token in the next step.

Step 2 - Add Shopify in Eyk

To complete this final step, first go to your Eyk environment

Go to your Eyk account

Then go to the page for adding Shopify, either through one of the pre-built insights that are powered by data from Shopify or through the sources page.

You will be asked to fill in:

  • Your Shopify store name. This is the first part of the url in your browser when you log into your Shopify account
  • The API Access Token collected in Step 1 above 👆

When all fields have been filled in, click the Add source button to continue.

Eyk will now check if the connection with the database can be made and you will be taken to the following page where updates will be given on the status of the first sync of data from your Shopify environment into your data warehouse.

After the data has been synced to your data warehouse, the insights that you have selected in your Eyk environment (for instance Ecommerce Performance or Ecommerce Attribution), will be automatically loaded.

Next step: connect one of Eyk’s pre-built Looker Studio templates and start analysing! 🏆

Data

❕
Metrics in Eyk do not always match exactly to the numbers you see in every Shopify report. This is because definitions can slightly differ between different Shopify reports. The numbers will however exactly match the numbers in the Total Sales financial report in Shopify. For an example, read here how order edits can affect some reports: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/orders/edit-orders#order-edit-analytics
